Squid Game‘s highly-anticipated second season is due in 2024 — and fans of the Emmy-nominated series can get an early fix with the Korean dystopian thriller series’ reality show spinoff. (Those in LA can even get an IRL experience with Netfix’s Squid Game: The Trials immersive pop-up in December; buy tickets here.)
Premiering on Netflix on Nov. 22, Squid Game: The Challenge spans 10 episodes and will see 456 contestants compete in (non-fatal) games for the chance to win a cash prize of $4.56 million. On the heels the reality series’ newly-released trailer, don’t be surprised if Squid Game costumes are among the top Halloween looks.

When Squid Game debuted in September 2021, overseas costume manufacturers quickly raced to get pieces into the hands of TV fans searching online for how to dress up as Squid Game characters. Some companies were ultimately unable to deliver by Oct. 31, likely due to supply chain and shipping issues. Two years later, show-inspired costumes are now readily available (and getting delivered on time) at Amazon and Netflix’s own online shop, to name a few.
The first season of Squid Game won five Emmys, including for best drama series, best director (Hwang Dong-hyuk), best lead actor (Lee Jung-jae) and best guest actress in a drama series (Lee You-mi); and took home four Screen Actors Guild awards for best actor (Lee), best actress (Jung Ho-yeon) and best performance by a stunt ensemble in a TV series. The series topped Nielsen’s weekly chart shortly after its release, and one South Korean internet service provider even sued the streaming and entertainment company over the surge in network traffic caused by the popular series, per CNBC.
Netflix has its own line of Squid Game merch, including Front Man masks, player costumes, red guard jumpsuits, clothing, figurines and other collectibles.
In the show, contestants wear teal tracksuits with their personal identification numbers, while guards sport hooded red jumpsuits with black fencing masks. Then there’s the robot schoolgirl who serves as the gamemaster for the first episode’s “Red Light, Green Light” challenge, and finally, the eerie Front Man, who wears a geometric face mask with a sleek black coat and leather gloves.
