SOUTH Australian twins Alisa and Lysandra Fraser have won The Block Sky High after a frenzied bidding war that saw all five teams earn big money at auction.

The five auctions netted an astounding $1.383 million in prize money for the 10 contestants on Channel 9's renovation show.

Alisa and Lysandra's first-floor apartment sold in the opening auction of the night for $1.435 million - $295,000 over its reserve price of $1.14 million.

After an opening bid of $1.1 million, dozens of would-be purchasers saw bidding quickly soar past the reserve.

In addition to banking their $295,000 profit, Alisa and Lysandra take home a first prize of $100,000 bringing their total winnings to $395,000.

The twins were the bookies' favourites to win The Block Sky High and have already talked about dumping their police jobs to start their own interior design company.

"We'll definitely pump some money into starting up our own business," Alisa says.

All couples keep any amount over the reserve price of their property.

Queensland's Trixie and Mark 'Johnno' Johnson's penthouse apartment was auctioned next and fetched $1.605 million - the highest amount of any property and $205,000 over the reserve price of $1.4 million.

Sydney's Madi and Jarrod Coppock's level four apartment sold for $1.601 million - a whopping $291,000 about the reserve of $1.31 million. The show's youngest couple were only $4000 short of victory.

Bec and George Douros's third-floor apartment was next under the hammer and was sold for $1.507 million - $242,000 higher that its reserve price of $1.265 million.

Bidding stayed strong for the final auction - Matt Di Costa and Kimberley Owen's level two apartment, which sold for $1.455 million.

The Perth couple pocketed $250,000 with a reserve of $1.205 million.

Host Scott Cam said: "All the sweat, tears, hard work and personal sacrifice has paid off.''

"I'm over the moon with the results of (the) auctions. You always hope the contestants will do well but (the) results are nothing short of amazing."
